pearly? definitely.

10 march update

Okay, as promised, I used those Crest Whitestrips and am ready to make my full report.

The verdict: not bad. Big, somewhat whiter, grins.

Admittedly, I am a teeth freak. I'm on a first-name basis with my dentist, floss twice a day sometimes, and just don't do bad breath. While a lot of issues concerning personal appearance can't be controlled, I can directly contribute to the clean, healthy appearance of my mouth. And to be very honest with you, it pays off. When you grin as much as I do, it's a regular investment.

Regarding the Whitestrips, I began using them before Girl Next Door Runs Amok opened. Twice a day, I applied one strip to my upper teeth and wore it for 30 minutes. You then remove the strip, brush, and rinse. Do not brush before applying the strip! While it's not a dentist-strength solution, it can increase tooth sensitivity for a short time. I'd rather have the white without the YEOW, you know?

Within a week, I noticed a marked difference in my pearlies. They weren't bad to begin with, but when you drink as much coffee as I do, it leaves its mark. I kept my eye on two teeth in particular, and have to say that they whitened up nicely! I also didn't have the gum and tooth sensitivity that I'd experienced with the dentist-prescribed program a few months back. That was awful. And it was 300 dollars.

As far as my experience goes, Crest Whitestrips get the double thumbs up. They're very easy to use. It's just like wrapping a piece of gel-covered tape onto your teeth. There's no gross taste, they're most reasonable (I found that I get more strips for less money at Drugstore.com), and I found that they work if you have moderately-stained teeth from external sources (such as coffee).

Better yet, they have a money-back guarantee. If you use the top strips as recommended, send the bottom strips back and get a refund. And just a common-sense tip: if you really want the best possible results, get your teeth professionally cleaned first. Let me know how they work for you if you try them! There's such a glut of these products out there now, that I'm always interested in knowing what other people have tried.

Just don't send me before and after photos, hm? That's just gross, I don't care how pearly they get. Yeccch.

Howdy, Denizens! Today, you're just learning a little too much about my personal health and hygiene, eh? Anyway, In a couple of weeks, look for a new review on those Crest Whitestrips. A few months ago, I went to my dentist to explore the possibility of teeth whitening. The price was reasonable enough for a long-term solution, about 300 dollars, and I tried it.

For about two days.

Now, I've got healthy teeth and gums. Neither I nor my sister have ever had a cavity or mouth problems. We each had braces, but that was it. So I didn't expect any problems with the whitening, until I noticed that my gums were extremely irritated. I returned everything to the dentist, he was super-nice and agreed that this wasn't working for me, and refunded me everything. It's not even like my teeth are all yellowy and gross, but I do drink a lot of coffee, and want to sidestep any discoloration.

Enter Crest Whitestrips. Apparently, dentist-prescribed whitening has about 16 percent hydrogen peroxide, but this OTC stuff contains less. And they're easy to use. So far, I've experienced no irritation, and have noticed a slight difference already. I'll let you know in a couple of weeks how these things really work.

Oh, don't expect any before and after photos. That's just icky. You'll have to take my word for it.
