16 december 2002 What?!? A new review? Wow, she really is back. Guess which liony chick sent the "Most Fun Word that Deserves to Be in General Circulation" to Kim Underwood's Flotsam and Jetsam Word Jamboree? Yes, indeed, that would be this liony chick! The Combobulators agree that jo simply must be in the everyday lexicon. Derived from the word "joy", it's a Scottish word that means "sweetheart". You read it at the Den first, so go out there and get all snudgy with your jo already. Currently Reading Don't Get Above Your Raisin': Country Music and the Southern Working Class | one personal soundtrack, check Now that was a darn tootin' good weekend with lots of good music, good company, and catching up with friends who have been busy busy with Christmas and year-end work. We are sweating our way to the holidays. I have just completed my Personal Sountrack for the project of which I spoke a few weeks ago. Mine follows. It is eclectic and mostly joyous. I look forward to receiving Lori's from Nebraska. I am intrigued as to what's playing in Omaha, baby! - "59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)"--Simon and Garfunkel

- "James Bond Techno Remix" (Pierce Brosnan, favorite Bond. Roger Moore, not favorite Bond.)--Moby
- "Saturday They'll All Be Back Again"--David Wilcox (This is a song based on all those kids cruising down Patton Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina. I was once one of them. There wasn't a lot to do in Asheville in the 80's.)

- "Your Revolution"--Sarah Jones (Sarah Jones is a New York-based performance artist and writer who got her start in the spoken word community. She is now regarded as a visionary performer, with two acclaimed one-woman shows under her belt and numerous other projects that have taken her around the world. A couple of years ago, an American radio station [KBOO, Portland OR] was slapped with FCC fines for broadcasting “Your Revolution”. Sarah is fighting the censorship by suing the FCC. Her sharp, smart response to the mysogynist rap that is freely broadcast without penalty all over the country is a personal favorite. You can read more about the FCC battle at her website, sarahjonesonline.com.
- "East Asheville Hardware"--David Wilcox ("Go to East Asheville Hardware before you go to Lowe's." 'Nuff said.
- "Late Night Radio"--David Gray
- "Waffle House"--David Wilcox (It’s a waffle! It’s a house! It’s a Waffle House tango! Waffle House, very popular with the creative writerly crew. Decent coffee, smothered hashbrowns, 24 hours of hot country jukebox action.>
- "High Heel Sneakers"--Cary Hudson
- "Carry Me"--Patty Griffin
- "I Saw a Stranger with Your Hair"--John Gorka
- "Appalachian Spring--Doppio Movimento"--Aaron Copland (This is the concluding movement based on the Shaker song "Simple Gifts".)
'Tis a gift to keep it simple and kind. That's the thing. That's my kind of music, 2002.
