easter 2002

my long and complicated relationship with the easter bunny began early, when i bit off his head.

within 20 years, my hostile act had become a marketing angle. mr. munchy had at last come to terms with his munchable goodness.

next to him was this guy. this is just wrong. this is what the nurse says to the plumbing-impaired man after a good movement. "well aren't you mr. solid today! We're getting you another cheese sandwich, Mr. Periwinkle!"

I can hear my Mom now, sucking in her breath over this bawdy little Easter Greeting and slowly but quietly exclaiming my name. "KIM-berly ROB-in...hol-ZER! For shame!" Then, realizing that she's a nurse and says stuff like that to her patients, she'll giggle.

However you celebrate this time of year, I hope that the recent full moon, Sunday's sunrise, and emerging blooms bring even more life to your own. I hope that you feel joy on the rainy days. I hope that you leave the flowers where they are, and that your laughter comes easy. The days are getting warmer. My freckles are already popping out. Days like this, I feel like that girl clutching the bunny. You just know something's up.
